Overview
Produces and anchors live, local news segments, including anchoring live "extended coverage" of breaking news as well as locally produced shows. The role requires a thorough understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline, or a basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. It is a security‑sensitive position, requiring routine background checks to maintain the integrity of university infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Provide aesthetic and creative direction of the production process for live public media programs.
Conceive, research, develop and execute ideas and concepts into program content.
Provide on‑air hosting and verbal delivery consistent with the highest professional broadcast standards of National Public Radio (NPR).
Act as the local voice of news programming.
Operate station broadcast and production equipment in a professional manner consistent with NPR standards.
Advance the station’s public image at community outreach events.
Participate in station fund‑raising campaigns and special events.
Conduct live and recorded interviews during on‑air shifts, generating story ideas and compiling spot news and feature news reports.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline, or basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.
Minimum of five (5) years of directly job‑related experience.
Technical certification or licensing directly related to the job, as specified in a job description addendum.
Security sensitive position requiring a criminal history check.
