About the Role Oshkosh Defense, an Oshkosh company, is a leading tactical vehicle manufacturer committed to protecting others. The Technical Writer will develop, write, and edit content for Operation and Service Manuals, Kit Instructions, and related technical publications in print or electronic media.
Your Impact Analyze new products and design changes to identify technical manual requirements.
Coordinate meetings and activities with engineering, service, marketing, and outside suppliers to gather, refine, and validate information.
Develop, write, and revise operation manual, service manual, kit instruction, and bulletin content using publishing and illustrating software, adhering to documentation guidelines and templates.
Understand bill‑of‑material concepts and interpret engineering drawings and related documentation.
Upload manuals into Windchill, create Change Notices, and release documentation to Online Express.
Review applicable Change Notices and determine required actions.
Ensure work meets schedule, style, and quality standards.
Coordinate proofing of final copy prior to release.
Develop instructions for accessory and service kits.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and at least two (2) years of relevant experience (equivalent to eight (8) years total in education and experience); or an equivalent combination demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions.
Internal candidates with a minimum of one year of high performance in their current position may be considered for reduced experience, subject to approval.

Self‑starter, flexible, highly organized with strong analytical skills.
Working Conditions This office‑based role is primarily performed in a professional office environment with standard lighting, ventilation, and temperature‑controlled settings. Duties are largely sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting and using a computer and telephone. Visual acuity to operate a computer and read documents, as well as auditory ability for virtual and in‑person meetings, are required. Occasional movement within the office environment is necessary.
Pay Range $64,500.00 – $103,500.00 (U.S. locations). Individual pay is determined by scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and skills.
