About KALB
KALB-TV is the #1 most-watched television station in Central Louisiana. KALB-TV includes the powerhouse NBC that has dominated the market for more than 70 years, CBS, and the CW.

Job Summary/Description
Are you a natural storyteller who lights up when the "On Air" sign glows? Do you have the kind of energy that can wake up a community and keep them engaged through their lunch break? KALB, the dominant news leader in Alexandria, Louisiana, is looking for a Morning/Midday Anchor who is as passionate about live interviewing as they are about digital storytelling. We aren't just looking for a "reader", we want a journalist who can lead a newsroom, own a live guest segment, and connect with our audience across Central Louisiana on every screen they own.

What You’ll Do

Own the desk: Anchor daily morning and midday newscasts with authority, authenticity, and a conversational style that makes viewers feel like they’re part of the story. Be prepared for each show by reading and editing scripts.

Master the interview: Lead live guest segments with curiosity and poise, turning every interview into a "must-watch" moment for our audience.

Collaborate and create: Work hand-in-hand with producers to pitch, develop, and deliver stories that actually matter to the people of Central Louisiana.

Drive digital engagement: Be a digital-first journalist, posting compelling content to the station’s digital platforms and producing daily reels that reach our audience where they live—on their phones.

Lead by example: Serve as a mentor and effective communicator within the newsroom, helping to set the editorial tone and maintain our high standards of journalism.

Own the field: Be ready to report or field anchor when major breaking news or special events happen—you’re as comfortable on a street corner as you are behind the desk.

Represent the brand: Be a face of KALB in the community, building trust and connection both on-air and off.

What You Bring

The Experience: At least two years of professional newsroom and on-air experience.

Sharp News Judgment: You know what’s a story, what’s a "maybe," and how to pivot when news breaks.

Digital Fluency: You embrace every tool in the modern newsroom toolkit to connect with audiences across all platforms.

Technical Chops: Knowledge of ENPS and Edius is a major plus—you know how to build a show and cut a story.

Communication Skills: You’re an effective communicator, whether you’re talking to a source, a viewer, or a colleague in the newsroom.

Leadership Mindset: You’re a team player who knows how to lead a broadcast and inspire those around you.

The Essentials: You must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Why You’ll Love It Here

Market Dominance: You’ll be working at the #1 station in the market, with the resources and reach to make a real impact.

Creative Freedom: We value your voice and your ideas—you’ll have a seat at the table in shaping our coverage.

Digital Innovation: We are a digital-first newsroom that encourages you to experiment and grow your personal brand across platforms.

Community Connection: Central Louisiana is a place where local news truly matters, and you’ll be at the heart of it every single day.
