Sr. Editor, Children's - Global Publishing
Overview:
We are seeking an innovative, skilled senior editor with a proven track record of success and a robust love of children's storytelling to join our Global Publishing team. This role is ideal for a creative editorial professional with an entrepreneurial spirit, who thrives in a dynamic studio environment and brings deep experience working across both internal and licensed publishing programs.
The Sr. Editor will acquire original works as well as develop and oversee titles based on beloved and iconic franchises, including PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Garfield, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The ideal candidate will have a network of literary agents and talents to draw from and an interest for identifying and developing against emerging trends and new voices. This role will also require close collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are brand‑accurate, creatively ambitious, and executed to the highest standards.
This position works cross‑functionally with teams across film, television, franchise, animation, consumer products, and brand management to build a compelling, fan‑approved publishing program for kids and families. A robust eye for creative storytelling and a solid knowledge of the children's publishing space is highly valued.
Responsibilities:
Acquire new projects and shape editorial strategy for both vertical and licensed titles
Dialogue with authors, illustrators, and agents
In‑house writing
Edit manuscripts for a robust list including storybooks, chapter books, beginning readers, coloring and activity, educational, non‑fiction, and novelty titles
Work with art department to review sketches, final art, and cover design
Manage multiple projects and meet ambitious deadlines
Oversee title P&Ls
Cultivate, foster, and maintain relationships with licensees and internal stakeholders
Interact with TV, film, franchise, animation, consumer products, and brand teams
Review marketing and publicity materials
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum 8 yrs+ publishing experience in publishing. Children's publishing is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; knowledge with Adobe
Strong P&L management skills
Extraordinary attention to detail and grammar
Domestic and international travel may be required
Additional Qualifications:
Photoshop and Illustrator preferred
Hiring Salary Range:
$85,600.00 - 128,400.00.
