We are looking for an experienced Level Artist to join our art team. As a Level Artist, you will have the opportunity to shape immersive and visually captivating game environments. Your role will involve closely following references, and art direction to create levels that align with the game’s atmosphere, story, and style. Having a keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently, you will take the initiative to create a visually appealing world. Your creative input and artistic expertise will contribute to the overall visual excellence of the games.
Responsibilities
Compose and dress environments to support gameplay readability, player navigation, and visual storytelling
Maintain visual quality and consistency of levels according to the project's quality bar and art direction
Gather and organize reference materials for environment assets
Follow studio pipelines, naming conventions, and asset management guidelines
Assemble and modify modular environment assets to build architectural and environmental spaces
Prepare visual breakdowns, reference boards, and asset lists when required
Act as production and artistic support for the Lead Level Artist
Integrate environment assets and textures into the level
Optimize levels for performance in collaboration with Tech Art and Design (draw calls, LODs, streaming)
Set up asset properties related to visuals and performance (LODs, collisions, materials)
Support bug fixing and visual polish throughout production and testing
Verify level quality in engine and make necessary improvements
Qualifications
Understanding of architectural and natural environment composition, scale, and structure
Knowledge of gameplay readability, player navigation, and visual guidance principles
Experience optimizing levels for real-time engines (LOD, draw calls, streaming, etc.)
Strong modeling skills for modular environment assets
Experience with Maya and/or Blender
Experience with material blending and vertex painting systems
Proficiency in Unreal Engine or similar real-time engines
Experience with Substance Painter/Designer
Understanding of physically based rendering (PBR) workflows and material standards
Strong eye for detail and consistency with the project’s art style
Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team
Nice to Have
Knowledge of material optimization techniques for real-time engines
Basic understanding of lighting principles and experience adjusting lighting in real-time engines
Experience with procedural tools such as Houdini is a plus
Experience working on shipped titles
