Editor in Chief - VERO BEACH MAGAZINE
The editor-in-chief guides the editorial and artistic content of the magazine and manages every aspect of the production process from ideation to publication. The editor-in-chief reports to the editorial director.
Duties
- Manages the magazine’s editorial staff and freelance writers
- Evaluates pitches and develops article ideas for publication
- Develops the editorial calendar
- Develops detailed tracking spreadsheets for each publication month
- Ensures deadlines are met for efficient publication
- Ensures all content is accurate and consistent with the magazine’s voice and vision
- Oversees publication budgets
- Edits and proofreads as needed
- Writes articles as needed
- Attends functions on behalf of the magazine
- Maintains a network of professional and social contacts within the community
- Hires and develops staff and freelancers
- Communicates and cooperates with department heads in production, sales and marketing, and circulation
Requirements
- Degree in journalism, English, communications or similar. Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a top editorial role
- Superior writing and editing skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to lead a team with enthusiasm and passion
