Requirements
- We require U.S. citizenship.
- We require on-site presence five days per week in Huntsville, Alabama.
- We require a Public Trust (T4) security clearance.
- You bring 15 years of software architecture and full-stack development experience, including at least 7 years designing production enterprise web applications.
- You have deep expertise in Microsoft .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core), Microsoft SQL Server, Entity Framework, and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- You have proven experience building RESTful APIs at scale, including API security, versioning, integration patterns, and federal data governance compliance.
- You have 5 years of experience designing and deploying applications in cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or other FedRAMP-authorized platforms.
- You have hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and modern CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
- You have led development of complex, user‑centered federal systems with mobile‑enabled capabilities.
- You have experience with observability tools and practices, including distributed tracing, centralized logging, and metrics platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Application Insights.
- You have expertise in database tuning, data modeling, data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and SSIS package development.
- You have implemented NIST 800‑53 Rev. 5 security controls and are familiar with FISMA ATO artifacts.
- You have integrated with federal identity providers such as DOJ Login, Login.gov, PIV/CAC, SAML, and OAuth2/OIDC.
- You understand Section 508 accessibility requirements at both the architecture and code level.
- You have experience in agile software engineering and in directing organizations with mixed management, technical, and administrative functions.
- You communicate clearly in both oral and written formats and can work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- You hold a BA or BS degree in Business Information Systems or a related IT discipline.
- You hold AWS Solution Architect and Security certifications.
- You have at least one advanced Microsoft‑based certification.
- Additional Microsoft certifications, Agile certifications, or architecture credentials are preferred.
Responsibilities
- We serve as the subject matter expert for system architecture and cloud infrastructure.
- We own the end‑to‑end technical architecture and solution design documentation for the modernization effort.
- We define the path from MVP to IOC and from IOC to FOC.
- We redesign database schemas to improve performance and remove legacy duplication and inconsistencies.
- We establish API standards aligned with federal data governance requirements.
- We design the observability framework across application, server, host, and network layers.
- We lead technical debt reduction and develop the technical roadmap with the Product Owner.
- We create and maintain design documentation, data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and the O&M plan.
- We deliver engineering practices presentation for CI/CD automation.
- We guide the team on secure coding practices and NIST 800‑53 control implementation.
- We help ensure production deployments can be executed with zero downtime whenever practicable.
- We design for enterprise‑scale performance across geographically dispersed U.S. locations.
- We architect solutions that preserve data segregation and access control.
- We design and manage cloud architecture in Azure Government.
- We guide DevSecOps implementation and CI/CD pipeline architecture.
- We create security architectures that meet government cybersecurity requirements.
- We design authentication and authorization frameworks supporting PIV and multifactor authentication.
- We act as a technical liaison with government operations and cyber teams.
- We design and coordinate integrations and interfaces with multiple external systems.
- We architect secure API solutions for data exchange with other federal agency systems.
- We coordinate technical requirements with federal IT services and external customers.
- We design solutions that support agile delivery and rapid release cycles.
- We ensure adherence to CMMI Level 3 or higher processes and architectural standards.
- We participate in Governance Board meetings and provide technical guidance and feasibility assessments.

This is a full‑time, in‑person role based in Huntsville, Alabama.
