Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time, exempt position of Digital Content Creator & Strategist. As a member of the University Communications team, this position is integral to the University's social media strategy and broader communications plan as we work to share our identity and values as a Christian university in the Lutheran tradition. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of University Communications and is an in-person role based in River Forest, IL.

Responsibilities/Duties

Develops and executes CUC's social media strategy, enhancing institutional visibility, reputation, and alignment with brand and Lutheran identity.

Plans and manages the social content calendar; produces and publishes platform-optimized graphics, photos, and short-form video.

Captures still photography and short-form, social-first video on campus and at events, providing real-time social coverage for high-priority events.

Writes accurate, on-brand captions; ensures accessibility (alt text, captions) and compliance (FERPA/copyright/UGC consent).

Monitors channels through social listening; engages/responds appropriately and routes inquiries as needed.

Tracks trends and surfaces relevant insights to internal teams; analyzes performance and delivers regular reports that inform strategy.

Collaborates across campus offices to reflect the full University experience.

Partners with the Director of Video Production Services to maintain consistent multimedia standards and support non-social video projects as needed.

Governs University-affiliated accounts: audits, recommends maintain/improve/discontinue actions, vets new requests, and guides secondary account managers on policies and best practices.

Coordinates timely dissemination of news, announcements, and crisis/emergency communications when applicable.

Supports special projects and contributes to broader University Communications initiatives; models professional, accurate, and timely communication and continuous improvement.

Skill Sets

Social strategy: Ability to develop and execute platform-specific strategies that balance substance, design, and engagement.

Content creation: Proficient photography and videography; strong writing, editing, and storytelling.

Tools: Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and social/content management tools.

Platforms and trends: Expertise in major social platforms; awareness of emerging technologies and best practices.

Analytics: Strong skills in digital analytics, reporting, and translating insights into action.

Project management: Excellent organization; able to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Collaboration and independence: Works effectively across teams and functions; able to operate autonomously when needed.

Quality and process: Concept development, process improvement, and commitment to accuracy, detail, and professional standards.

Minimum Experience Required
Five (5+) years of relevant experience in digital content creation, social media management, or multimedia storytelling; prior management of social media accounts for a business or organization. Previous experience in higher education a plus (not required).

Education Requirements
A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, digital media, photography, film production, graphic design, or related discipline is required.
