Creative Director, Video Podcasts (Disney Entertainment Television)

Job Summary:

Disney is seeking an inventive, highly collaborative Creative Director, Video Podcasts to shape the creative vision for a robust slate of video‑led podcast series across the Disney ecosystem. This role oversees the creative direction for approximately 15 video podcast series per year, each typically consisting of around 10 episodes. The position focuses on creative vision, tone, format development, and storytelling specific to the video podcast medium, guiding a team of three (Sr Producer, Manager, Project Management, and Coordinator) and partnering closely with the internal production team to maintain budget discipline and ensure the creative vision is fully realized.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the top creative lead across 15 video podcast series annually, defining tone, look, feel, narrative approach, and audience experience.
  • Drive early‑stage creative development including format ideation, thematic arcs, series concepts, and show style.
  • Help create creative briefs, show bibles, reference decks, visual direction, and narrative frameworks.
  • Guide run‑of‑show structures, interview arcs, talent direction, and overarching storytelling for each show.
  • Partner closely with Producers to ensure creative vision is carried through pre‑production, shoot execution, and post‑production.
  • Attend select shoots to provide creative oversight and ensure execution aligns with established creative direction.
  • Lead creative reviews in post including rough cuts, narrative adjustments, pacing, graphics direction, and sound notes.
  • Collaborate with marketing, social, and editorial teams across Hulu, Marvel, Disney Branded Television, ABC, etc., ensuring brand alignment and creative consistency.
  • Push innovation in visual podcasting, evolving formats and experimenting with new storytelling techniques.
  • Inspire and mentor creative partners including editors, designers, writers, and talent‑facing teams.
  • Stay on top of industry trends, platform evolution, and audience expectations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in creative leadership across video content, digital series, video podcasts, or unscripted storytelling.
  • Strong track record in defining creative vision and leading storytelling‑driven formats.
  • Portfolio demonstrating elevated creative direction, narrative thinking, and visual innovation.
  • Proven ability to guide editors, designers, writers, and Producers with clear creative feedback.
  • Exceptional communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with talent and shaping interview‑based or conversational content.
  • Strong understanding of brand voice and franchise/IP sensitivity.
  • Experience working on video podcasts, including familiarity with studio/set design for video‑first podcast environments, multi‑camera workflows, and post‑production pipelines specific to video podcast formats.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within the Disney ecosystem (Marvel, Hulu, DBT, FX, Nat Geo).
  • Experience creating original show formats or franchise‑adjacent long‑form content.
  • Ability to think strategically about audience growth and multi‑platform storytelling.
  • Deep knowledge of the video podcast landscape, including platform trends across YouTube, Spotify, and emerging video podcast destinations.

Compensation

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $168,400 to $225,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
