Nextgov/FCW, an award-winning digital publication of GovExec, seeks a Senior Technology Reporter to cover the leading-edge technologies influencing areas like digital service delivery, the modern contracting landscape, and policy directives from Congress and the White House on a daily and enterprise basis. Major agencies in this space include the General Services Administration, Office of Management and Budget, the Treasury and Energy departments and federal watchdogs, but the ideal candidate will also have space to pursue stories across agencies that pique their curiosity.
We are looking for an experienced, thoughtful and driven candidate who comes to the table with a strong perspective on how the technologies of the future will impact and be impacted by the federal government. The ideal candidate will have a passion for unearthing new perspectives and will work with a team of talented journalists to track down the most important news. Given the breadth of government technology news happening every day, we are looking for someone that is eager to establish a niche in the space where they can develop expertise and drive conversation.
Responsibilities
Writing breaking news stories and enterprise features for digital and print.
Bringing the perspectives of key sources to produce original reporting.
Moderating panel discussions and one-on-one interviews when necessary.
Contributing to ebooks, special reports, podcasts and other editorial projects.
Supporting editing staff in crafting content strategy.
Qualifications
5+ years relevant experience.
Extensive experience covering technology issues or other relevant experience relating to covering the federal government.
Strong writing and analytical skills and high attention to detail.
Ability to quickly digest complicated information and produce stories on deadline.
A positive, good-natured, energetic attitude.

The compensation range for this role is $80,000 to $90,000 per year.
