Job Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for Coil Coating Operation's daily supervision, direction, advisement, and training of manufacturing team members in accordance with all policies and procedures, with a focus on safety, quality, and environmental responsibility while meeting customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervises operations on assigned shift(s) by directing work force and guiding staff leaders.

Maintains time and daily shift production records and reporting.

Interprets company policies to workers and enforces all safety and plant policies/regulations.

Fairly administers the company's work rules and policies, including investigation of accidents and incidents.

Abides by all regulatory requirements including but not limited to environmental compliance.

Ensures employees on the shift are wearing proper PPE and are following safety rules.

Conducts required training regarding safety, operations, set‑up change‑over, etc.

Inspects products to verify quality conformance to specification and directs setup to adjustments of machines as needed and required.

Makes decisions relative to assuring the quality standards and volume produced on the shift.

Works with maintenance department to ensure all machinery functioning properly.

Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase production efficiencies.

Maintains effective means of communication with Plant Manager and all other production employees.

Collaborates with quality department regarding customer issues/returns to identify problem areas and work as a team with other staff members to correct deficient areas and maintain improvements.

Marginal Duties

Attends staff meetings as directed by Plant Manager.

Keeps working area clean and orderly at all times.

Works with other production supervisors and staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum high school diploma required.

Advanced education at a technical or vocational school preferred.

3 to 5 years of hands‑on supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment.

Process control experience a plus.

Steel, slitting, coil coating, and other steel‑related experience strongly preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude.

Ability to train, motivate, and direct production employees.

Ability to work long and irregular hours in response to customer demands and production problems.

Willing and able to work a night shift position.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Qualifications

Safety and quality minded.

Organized and detail oriented.

Proven ability to effectively manage multiple operations while maintaining high employee morale and required productivity levels.

Ability to train, develop and motivate employees while incorporating team‑building concepts and continuous improvement philosophy.

Physical Demands

Standing for extended periods of time.

Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Manufacturing plant environment with dirt, dust, and temperature fluctuations based on seasonal conditions with minimal fans and heaters.

Large machinery with moving parts as well as forklift traffic and material storage.
