Department 4300 - Facilities Management
Position Purpose Under general supervision, lays out and performs finished and rough carpentry work on construction, alterations and maintenance, and performs other tasks related to facilities maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
State of Michigan residential builder’s license or completion of Detroit Carpentry Joint Apprentice School with journeyman card.
Furnish proof of at least six years continuous full-time experience in the carpentry trade at the journeyman level in commercial buildings.
Demonstrated working knowledge of the carpentry trade.
Experience in layout, print reading, construction techniques and knowledge of construction materials and applications.
Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment of the structural maintenance trade.
Valid vehicle operator’s license and a driving record acceptable for coverage by the university’s insurance carrier.
Desired Qualifications Knowledge of commercial roofing systems and proper repair methods.
Ability to perform masonry/concrete repairs.
All Qualifications Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
