Job Title: SFESOM Building Operations Manager

Job Summary: Manages and oversees operations for the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine building, serving as the single point of contact for internal and external constituents. Acts as liaison to departments responsible for laboratory and simulation center oversight and external vendors for food, beverage, and common area management. Manages space and event coordination, mail and package delivery, procurement of supplies, and other functions to ensure efficient building operations.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement policies and procedures for building operations and customer services.

Interface with departments and vendors to market and promote special events, food and beverage services, and simulation center/lab opportunities.

Analyze complaints, concerns, and suggestions to ensure customer satisfaction and provide appropriate follow‑through.

Set short- and long-term goals, estimate budgetary requirements for events staff, space, equipment, and implement special projects and policies.

Partner with events management staff to support successful event execution, including contract negotiations, resource planning, AV and technology needs, event analysis, budget reconciliation, and customer feedback. Provide hands‑on event support and coordinate invoicing and billing.

Coordinate building maintenance and repairs with Facilities Management that affect normal operation.

Develop and implement facility safety and emergency training and protocols.

Serve as liaison between the Dean’s Office, Facilities Management, Campus Police, and other vendors; oversee building access requests, room scheduling, mail and delivery services, and directory management.

Design and maintain the SFESOM building webpage to facilitate room scheduling, facilities ticketing, building events and catering services, parking information, and related services.

Minimum Qualifications

Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education may substitute for 1 year of directly related work experience.

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) plus 4 years (Senior Supervisor), 6 years (Manager), or 8 years (Senior Manager) of directly related experience; alternatively Master’s degree plus 2, 4, or 6 years respectively.

Broad knowledge of operations management with demonstrated leadership skills.

Experience managing profit and loss, budgeting, and setting revenue goals.

Senior Supervisor: M2 – Senior Supervisor, Operations Management – Division/Business Unit (Non-Executive)

Manager: M3 – Manager, Operations Management – Division/Business Unit (Non-Executive)

Senior Manager: M4 – Senior Manager, Operations Management – Division/Business Unit (Non-Executive)

Benefits
Salary range $70,000–$75,000 annually, with standard benefits and eligibility for Utah Retirement Systems if applicable. Flexible business hours; some evening hours may be required.
