Position Overview
The Sales Manager leads and develops a proactive sales effort across group business, leisure, social, military, educational, religious, fraternal, and sports market segments. Responsibilities include overseeing advertising and promotional initiatives, driving sales and meeting performance targets, and contributing to overall hotel revenue generation to maximize profitability and maintain customer satisfaction. The role requires exceeding 100% RGI and achieving budgeted total hotel revenue expectations.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate excellent selling skills.

Maintain knowledge of group, SMERF, sports, FIT, and leisure segments.

Meet or exceed booking goals for guest room revenue; meet or exceed budgeted revenue on a quarterly basis while negotiating within guidelines.

Promptly handle inquiry calls and manage paperwork to confirm event details.

Solicit new and repeat business for guest rooms and events.

Maintain client base of key accounts and conventions.

Determine client and guest needs.

Make outside sales and phone solicitation calls to obtain business.

Conduct on‑site inspections to book business.

Assess potential business opportunities for profitability and benefit to the hotel.

Represent the hotel in community affairs and industry events.

Maintain accurate sales records, databases, and reports.

Achieve budgeted revenues and expenses; maximize profitability of the sales department.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Understand the STR report and other key industry metrics/analysis.

Demonstrate knowledge/experience in advertising and promotional activities.
