Senior Commercial Lines Account Manager

Known for its innovative approach and commitment to exceptional client service, our client continues to experience strategic growth and is seeking a Senior Commercial Lines Account Manager to join their Grand Rapids team. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside a highly successful Producer and a collaborative Large Accounts team, managing a sophisticated commercial book of business generating approximately $2.1 million in agency revenue. The role focuses on servicing and growing a select portfolio of 8-10 large commercial accounts, while partnering closely with another experienced Account Manager to deliver best-in-class client service and risk management solutions.
Key Responsibilities: Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to commercial clients by providing proactive service and strategic insurance guidance.
- Participate in client meetings alongside Producers while also managing client interactions independently.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and business partners.
- Address complex coverage questions, claims concerns, and service issues with professionalism and urgency.
Account Management & Renewals
- Lead the renewal process, including marketing, carrier negotiations, coverage analysis, and proposal preparation.
- Coordinate service timelines and ensure all renewal and new business activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Review policies, endorsements, and coverage structures to identify gaps and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Prepare and present renewal proposals, coverage comparisons, and risk management recommendations.
Marketing & Carrier Relations
- Market accounts to insurance carriers and negotiate competitive coverage terms.
- Analyze carrier proposals, pricing, and coverage options to develop tailored solutions for clients.
- Maintain strong carrier relationships and stay informed on market trends, appetite changes, and product offerings.
Business Development Support
- Identify opportunities to round accounts, cross-sell additional coverages, and support organic growth initiatives.
- Assist Producers with new business opportunities and prospect presentations when needed.
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner closely with Producers, Account Managers, and support staff to ensure exceptional client service.
- Contribute to process improvements and help maintain efficient workflows within the department.
- Participate in team meetings, training programs, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Active Michigan Property & Casualty License required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and industry experience will be considered.
- Professional designations such as CISR, CIC, CRM, or similar are highly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, markets, and carrier relationships.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Schedule
In-Office Position
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Summer Hours (Memorial Day through Labor Day): Fridays end at 4:00 PM
