Corporate Communications Specialist – Hospital Administration
Under the supervision of the Corporate Communications Manager, the Corporate Communications Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the health system’s communications strategy both internally and externally. They oversee the communications process on behalf of the executives and departments they support so that all communications accurately represent the corporate identity and promote the organization’s mission. This role works directly with the organization’s leadership team on all internal communications to drive awareness of key strategies and team member engagement. Internal communications work includes, but is not limited to, writing memos, talking points, internal emails to team members and physicians, managing internal newsletters, portal updates and internal marketing campaigns. Additionally, the role helps support the external communications strategy by ensuring an efficient workflow of press releases, supporting event activations, crisis communications, thought leadership initiatives and partnering with internal stakeholders on social media content and developing content as needed. This role is a key member of the Corporate Communications team and will work closely with leadership to support strategic work as it comes out of the Office of the President & CEO, in collaboration with the VP of Corporate Communications & Chief of Staff. Responsibilities include performing jobs in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Essential Functions

Develop internal communications tools to effectively communicate across the organization, including newsletters, email messaging, FAQs, talking points, intranet posts, and more.

Write, edit, review and enhance internal communication materials, including presentations, newsletters and handouts for various audiences.

Work with senior leaders to develop department and system-wide communications plans, from message development to execution.

Serve as point person for the organization’s intranet (internal website), actively maintain it and train internal content developers on proper use of the tool.

Lead the press release process, including tracking of jobs in project‑management software and publishing on external platforms such as the TGH.org website and PR Newswire.

Support media relations, including staffing of media interviews, press conferences and the crisis command center.

Collaborate with Corporate Communications Managers on thought‑leadership initiatives to foster executive leadership visibility, including award nominations, speaking engagements, conferences, editorial opportunities and more.

Support the tracking and reporting of key performance indicators, advising on adjustments to communications tactics as needed.

Collaborate with leadership to ensure information is properly cascaded down throughout the organization, including follow‑ups from various meetings.

Support the creation of crisis communication plans and the development of tools that assist with management of emergency preparedness across the organization.

Support strategic projects for the Office of the President as assigned, including coordination of cross‑functional teams, research and analysis to guide strategic decision‑making and the implementation of plans to ensure timely completion and achievement of objectives.

Develop presentation materials and briefings as needed.

Work collaboratively with other communications colleagues, partners and stakeholders to ensure an integrated, effective approach across all communications.

Perform other communications and project duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

Two years related experience.

Experience executing strategic communications plans across a variety of internal and external vehicles.

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong writing ability with demonstrated experience in a variety of styles and formats, and expertise in simplifying concepts and messages for a broad audience.

Strong professional interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of management, media partners, vendors, community partners and the general public.

Creative thinker, self‑motivated, with the ability to thrive in a high‑energy, fast‑paced, positive, team‑spirited environment that often involves a heavy workload.

Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.

Proven multitasking and project management skills, with the ability to finish projects on tight deadlines.

Computer proficiency, with high comfort‑level in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related software.

Experience with presentation design and development.
