2nd Shift Production Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinate the work teams' activities to see that goals are achieved. Direct, supervise, and coordinate production in assigned area. Through assignment of duties and personal skills, assure timely and efficient fulfillment of the areas responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

Plan, supervise,directand engage in daily production operations, andanticipateproduction problems, (i.e., material shortages, equipment malfunctions, rush orders, etc.) such that loss of work hours isminimizedand production and qualityobjectivesare achieved.
Utilize skills, work hours, materials andwork flowto achieve production and qualityobjectives; exchangetimelyinformation with other supervisors on interdepartmental product flow and work force needs.
Manage on-time delivery performance of work cells to the dispatch list
Instruct, train, orient,motivateand otherwiseassistemployees so that production and qualityobjectivesare achieved. Participate in the selection/interview process to fill hourly positions and appraise employee performance. Recommend promotions,transfersand work assignments.
Provide information /assist managers, research and development, and/or mechanics in their efforts to diagnose tooling and equipment malfunctions;initiateefforts aimed at affecting cost reductions, work simplification or improvements in methods or equipment.
Supervise departmental safety and housekeeping practices andmaintaina constant alert for hazardous conditions; respond to employee injuries by administering first aid, issuing medical authorization forms, investigating accident causes and recommending means to prevent accident reoccurrence.
Keep employees informed of thecompanyrules and regulations, and production and quality expectations. Issue warnings and other approved disciplinary measures when necessary.
Encourage employee communication and endorse anopen doorpolicy.
Maintain professionalism and stay abreast of new developments through publications,vendorsand in-house management training.
Coach employees to achieve desired output for safety, quality,schedulesand cost.
Train employees to enable them to increase their involvement and self-direction
Fosters an environment that focuses on our5 coremetrics: quality, cost, delivery, safety, and relationships

Works with Engineering, Quality, Test, and Manufacturing to effectively and collaboratively resolve any product issues that arise.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization

The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, hands-on individual that is able to multi-task and work with little to minimal supervision.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

Education:

Bachelor'sdegree;or four to ten years related experience supervising in a manufacturing environment
Proven success in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing processes and procedures

Mustpossessstrong communicationskills with all levels with company
Must have a working knowledge of business fundamentals
COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficiencyin Microsoft applications isrequired
Proficiencywith MRP systems/ JDEexperience is a definite plus
