Summary / Objective
The 3D Product Development Specialist is responsible for transforming initial design concepts from 2‑dimensional sketches into fully developed 3‑dimensional models. This includes creating complete Rhino design files with all necessary surfaces, ensuring manufacturing feasibility, verifying fit and functionality, and maintaining the overall design intent provided in the original product sketches or technical drawings.
Essential Functions
Collaborate directly with department leadership on product development projects.
Convert design concepts from the 2‑dimensional concept stage into functional 3‑dimensional Rhino models.
Develop 3D models while preserving the original design intent and aesthetic.
Create rough design prototypes using 3D printing and metal casting processes for design review and approval.
Implement revisions throughout the development process to achieve final approved designs.
Produce detailed 2‑dimensional technical drawings with all required profiles and specifications to communicate approved 3‑dimensional designs.
Qualifications
3-5 years of Rhino experience building complex design models.
Ability to understand and learn technical manufacturing concepts related to product development.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus on complex projects for extended periods.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
Proficiency in KeyShot 3D rendering and animation software.
Ability to render design models with various materials and finishes to represent existing and new product variations.
Experience converting 2‑dimensional concepts into complex 3‑dimensional models, including developing manufacturable surfaces, material thicknesses, mechanical functionality, and component connectivity.
Experience with 3D printing processes, including preparing files for production and refining prototypes for testing.
Ability to create accurate 2‑dimensional CAD drawings from 3‑dimensional Rhino models.
Strong willingness to learn product‑specific design concepts, development processes, and aesthetic standards.
Patience and commitment to mastering established development methodologies over time.
Work Environment
This position operates in a warehouse, office, and production‑floor environment. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment, computers, phones, and other electronic devices.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
Full‑time, non‑exempt position.
Monday through Friday.
Standard business hours, with flexibility for approved alternative scheduling arrangements.
