Nature of Work

The Vice President, Marketing leads the full‑funnel marketing strategy for the Denver Nuggets, owning how one of the NBA’s marquee franchises shows up in the market, grows its fan base, and drives revenue across the season and year‑round. This position sits at the nexus of basketball, culture and the Rocky Mountain region, tying together the best of NBA branding with a bespoke local perspective to build a brand that resonates with Nuggets fans. The leader sets brand direction and builds an integrated marketing engine that connects brand, performance media, lifecycle/CRM, content and live experience. The role is accountable for growing the Nuggets fan base, the Nuggets’ regional and national footprint and enhancing the Nuggets fan journey, both in‑arena and through broadcast channels.

This is both a strategic and operational role. Success requires a leader who can shape a distinctive brand narrative, run a disciplined revenue‑driving marketing operation and partner effectively across the Nuggets organization and KSE enterprise.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and lead the Denver Nuggets marketing strategy, aligning brand‑building with measurable revenue growth across ticketing, premium and partnership‑supported objectives.
  • Build, lead and develop a high‑performing marketing group, providing vision, coaching and clear operating rhythms.
  • Serve as the connective tissue across Nuggets shared functions – Ticket Sales & Service, Partnerships, Data & Analytics, Community Relations, Altitude, Communications and Ball Arena – to drive alignment on Nuggets‑related initiatives.
  • Proven track record of building a brand and selling products/services across channels and media, and understands the direct connection between deep customer engagement and business performance.

Revenue & Fan Development

  • Build and amplify Nuggets Nation as a distinct fan identity, creating programs, platforms and experiences that deepen belonging, strengthen advocacy and extend engagement beyond game attendance.
  • Collaborate with Ticket Sales leadership on pricing narratives, product positioning, target audiences, creative and launch timing.
  • Partner with Strategy & Analytics team to better understand fan behavior and drive lifecycle/CRM marketing across the fan journey – acquisition, retention, upsell and loyalty – to grow lifetime fan value and engagement.
  • Collaborate with CCO / Partnership Strategy to identify, conceptualize and build high‑level sponsorable campaigns, branded content, platform development and programming that fuels business development efforts and provides measurable success against partnership objectives.
  • Own the strategy for growing the Nuggets’ identifiable fan base through data acquisition, membership programs, digital engagement and community participation.
  • Collaborate with Youth Sports Leadership to develop in‑market initiatives with community partners, local schools and enhance Jr. Nuggets program throughout the region.
  • Assist in identifying community partners to bring Nuggets brand initiatives and NBA Cares to life in schools, youth programs, community centers and nonprofit organizations.

Brand Marketing

  • Steward the Denver Nuggets brand – its DNA, positioning and voice – ensuring a clear, differentiated and culturally relevant narrative locally and nationally.
  • Lead the development and execution of large‑scale brand campaigns and activations that extend beyond Ball Arena and into the Denver community and Mountain West region.
  • Oversee creative to develop concepts that support both brand and campaign objectives.
  • Drive fans and stakeholders to the brand and games through meaningful digital/social interaction and compelling events to build ongoing connectivity. Expand and upgrade organisational capability in the digital area and seamlessly integrate digital marketing and experience into each marketing program.
  • A solid understanding of the NBA or passion for basketball (or the fan journey) and excitement to build storylines around players and the team for campaigns, storytelling and goodwill in the community.
  • Serve as a brand champion internally and externally.

Live Experience & Game Presentation

  • Oversee Nuggets game presentation, ensuring best‑in‑class in‑arena execution that strengthens both fan experience and business outcomes.
  • Integrate live experiences into the broader marketing strategy, connecting game nights with campaigns, content and fan development.
  • Partner with Altitude Sports on content development, in‑game broadcast experience and creating compelling year‑round storytelling content that enhances our brand and fan experience.
  • Partner with Ball Arena venue and technology teams to evolve the live experience through storytelling, innovation and data.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays aligned to the NBA schedule and event calendar.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of marketing experience, with 5+ years leading high‑performing marketing teams; experience with a sports team, league or major consumer/entertainment brand strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth through integrated, multi‑channel marketing.
  • Deep expertise in brand strategy paired with performance/lifecycle marketing fundamentals (segmentation, CRM, customer development).
  • Experience leveraging marketing technology (CRM, CDP, automation, analytics platforms) and using data to drive strategy.
  • Experience managing live events and/or game presentation strongly preferred.
  • Proven people leader with a record of building, developing and retaining values‑driven teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator; comfortable influencing across functions and at all levels of the organization.
  • Results‑oriented with strong strategic instincts.

Compensation

  • Base salary range: $200,000 to $300,000 annually
