Overview
The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office seeks an innovative Social Media Manager to develop and execute creative, engaging content that promotes the office’s programs and initiatives across multiple platforms. The role uses data‑driven insights to connect with diverse audiences and maintain a consistent, impactful online presence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement social media strategies aligned with communication goals.
Create, edit, and schedule compelling social media posts and multimedia elements.
Maintain and manage social media content calendars and timely scheduling.
Manage the office’s presence on Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, tailoring content for each platform.
Lead the creation and execution of social media campaigns to increase engagement and promote key events.
Use analytics tools to track performance, evaluate campaigns, and provide actionable insights.
Stay updated on social media trends, emerging platforms, and best practices.
Collaborate with Communications and Public Engagement teams to ensure alignment with broader messaging.
Maintain consistent and authentic voice across all platforms, reflecting the Secretary of State’s mission.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Journalism, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in social media strategy, content creation, or digital marketing.
Proven ability to create high‑quality, engaging content tailored to various platforms and audiences.
Experience managing content calendars and scheduling posts and campaigns.
Expert knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, TikTok and related content formats.
Strong writing and editing skills, producing clear, concise, creative content.
Proficiency with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights).
Proficiency in content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and video editing software.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Analytical mindset using data insights to refine strategies and improve engagement.
Additional Information
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support news, events, or special content needs.
