Public Relations Associate Director
Job Overview: The Public Relations Associate Director is responsible for helping shape and protect the organization's reputation through strategic communication initiatives and aligning public relations strategies with brand purpose and business objectives. This role focuses on development and execution of PR strategies, fostering strong media relationships, and serving as key connector across Firm PR, Global PR, Marketing, Communications, Reputation Management, and Public Policy.

Key Responsibilities

Public Relations Execution: Create and manage the PR plan for one of EY’s largest business units, deploying media tactics to influence brand perception, engage journalists, secure positive coverage, and support thought leaders through media training and briefings.

Strategic Business Partnering: Develop comprehensive proactive PR plans aligned with key business goals and build trusted relationships with leadership to execute priority programs.

Crisis, Regulatory & Issues Management: Collaborate with business executives, Public Policy and Firm PR to manage sensitive regulatory issues, lead scenario planning, message development, approvals and media engagement.

Executive & Thought Leadership Social Strategy: Lead social media strategy for leaders and programs, including governance, risk management, content review, positioning and amplification.

Measurement & Insights: Evaluate and report on PR outcomes, continually assess and recommend adjustments to refine local planning and strategy.

Agency & Budget Leadership: Own day-to-day agency relationships, manage scopes of work, budgets, invoices, and performance to ensure adherence to EY standards and approval processes.

Skills and Attributes for Success

Extensive experience (10+ years) leading public relations in professional services, 7-10+ years at a Big Four, with expertise in internal and external messaging and experience in regulated industries.

Strong leadership to inspire and lead teams within a global matrixed organization.

Stakeholder management and influencing skills to convey ideas and influence senior stakeholders.

Project management skills to think strategically and manage complex global projects to completion.

Commercial acumen to analyze market trends for strategic decisions.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to convey complex information to diverse audiences.

Agility and adaptability to manage ambiguity in a fast‑paced environment.

Strategic vision to support strategy development and implementation with creative problem‑solving.

Cultural competence to foster a global and inclusive workplace.

What We Offer

Competitive compensation and benefits. Base salary ranges for U.S. locations: $128,700 to $247,800, with higher ranges for NYC, Washington State and California: $154,500 to $281,600. Total rewards include medical, dental, pension, 401(k), and paid time off.

Hybrid work model: most external roles work in person 40-60% of the time.
