Job Purpose
Reports to the Senior Residential Youth Homes Manager while supporting the program treatment and intervention philosophy by providing leadership, supervision, and instruction to staff across assigned living units, ensuring consistent implementation of treatment plans, therapeutic interventions, safety practices, and operational procedures. The Program Supervisor invests in residential leaders, oversees program operations, and promotes a therapeutic culture that recognizes and values progress toward youth treatment goals. This position provides direct oversight of assigned living units and is responsible for maintaining quality services, regulatory compliance, and positive outcomes for youth and staff. The Program Supervisor is an active, working member of the direct‑care team and may be included in staff‑to‑youth ratio counts while supervising youth, staff, and overseeing unit operations.
Essential Job Functions
Supports the Program Treatment and Intervention Philosophy
Provides leadership and direction to staff across assigned living units to create and sustain a therapeutic/trauma‑informed culture.
Communicates, coaches, and role‑models the proper implementation of therapeutic intervention strategies.
Applies crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques and promotes the reduction of physical interventions.
Monitors behavior management and support practices to ensure consistent and appropriate application.
Participates in treatment discussions and program planning as needed.
Oversees Implementation of Youth Treatment Plans
Supervises direct care staff and ensures treatment plans are implemented consistently and effectively.
Monitors youth progress and collaborates with clinical and interdisciplinary teams to support treatment goals.
Ensures interventions are individualized, trauma‑informed, and aligned with established treatment plans.
Provides guidance and coaching to staff regarding youth needs and behavioral interventions.
Provides Leadership and Operational Oversight for Two Living Units
Oversees day‑to‑day operations, staffing, and programming for assigned living units.
Conducts bi‑monthly 1:1 supervision of the Living Unit Leads.
Ensures consistent implementation of policies, procedures, and program expectations across assigned units.
Monitors unit environments to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readiness for youth services.
Serves as a resource for staff and assists in resolving operational and programmatic concerns.
Provides Oversight of Medication Administration
Oversees Administrative and Program Processes
Develops and Supports Staff Performance
Maintains Staff Job Results
Helps Ensure Safety of Staff and Youth
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Behavioral Science, Education, or related field.
Two to four years of experience working with at‑risk youth, residential treatment, behavioral health, child welfare, or related human services setting.
Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to safely engage with youth, including approved physical intervention techniques when necessary.
Preferred
Master’s degree in a social or behavioral science field.
Prior supervisory experience in residential care, treatment services, or related setting.
Experience overseeing multiple programs, units, or teams.
