Description

The Employment Specialist supports individuals with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment. Responsibilities include conducting vocational assessments, assisting with job searches and interviews, providing on-the-job training, coordinating workplace accommodations, and maintaining communication with employers and service teams. The role also includes maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring compliance with state and agency requirements, promoting safety, and educating individuals on how employment may impact benefits. Community outreach and occasional support to work crews may be required.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Ability to relate to and work with individuals with intellectual disabilities, ability to write the English language in a legible and understandable manner as well as communicate effectively with individuals served, families/caregivers, co-workers and members of the business community. Must be able to work harmoniously with co-workers, supervisors, and service recipients.

Education : High School Diploma or GED.

Experience : Prefer one year of experience working within a program or providing services/supports for people with intellectual or related disabilities.

Other : Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
