Local knowledge of Waco and Central Texas is a plus—we value journalists who understand the heartbeat of the communities they serve.What You'll Do Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideasGather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and researchOrganize material, determine slant or emphasis, and write stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standardsShoot video and still photos to illustrate storiesEdit or assist in editing videos for all multimedia platformsAppear on television program when conducting taped interview or narrationGive live reports from the site of events or mobile broadcast unitWork cooperatively with photographer assigned to stories, if one is assignedAssist news producer in preparing newscastsAssist online staff in preparing for multimedia storiesWhat You'll Need BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience (preferred)Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field (preferred)Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with required company limitsWhat You'll Bring Computer literacy including newsroom computer systemsVideography and non-linear editing experience (preferred)Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipmentAbility to edit video on Final Cut Pro or similar editing systemsStrong broadcast and AP style writing skillsProficiency at posting content to various websitesSelf‑motivated and able to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environmentAbility to lift up to 50 poundsWhere You'll Live, Work, and Play Waco sits in the heart of Central Texas along the Brazos River, offering a blend of college‑town energy, historic charm, and modern growth.
