Position Summary As a permanent, full‑time Public Affairs Specialist2, you will develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies and tactics to support agency objectives, and represent the agency in engagements with key stakeholders for a variety of strategic purposes. The scope of this position is agency‑wide with statewide impact.Responsibilities Identify communication issues and formulate appropriate strategies.Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans, tactics, and approaches.Implement approved approaches and evaluate outcomes to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.Independently manage projects, coordinate activities with internal and external partners, and interpret policy.Determine appropriate methods and techniques to achieve desired results.Represent the agency in engagements with key stakeholders.Work Arrangement This position has the potential for hybrid‑remote work; however, travel expenses to Salem for required in‑person duties are not reimbursed.Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a related field.Two years of professional‑level experience in Public Relations or Affairs; or five years of directly related experience under recruitment, with at least two of those years at the professional level.Desired Attributes Exceptional writing and editing skills for a range of media, public affairs, and marketing purposes.Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic communications plans for internal and external audiences.Experience using technology and software related to design, publication, communication, and media to create and deliver written and visual content.Experience collaborating and building strong relationships with internal staff and external partners.Experience with media relations, including public speaking, responding to requests, and serving as a spokesperson with media outlets.Experience working as a public information officer during an emergency, including Incident Command System training.Special Requirements A criminal record and driving record check that meets OPRD criteria must be completed at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment; a valid driver's license is also required.Benefits Work/life balance with 11 paid holidays a year.Competitive benefits package.Advancement and learning opportunities to grow your career in the State of Oregon.Equal Opportunity Statement The Oregon Parks & Recreation Department is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, committed to diversity.Visa Sponsorship Oregon Parks & Recreation Department does not offer visa sponsorship.#J-18808-Ljbffr
