Basic Function: Position Overview
This role enhances athlete safety, optimizes facility usage, improves competitive performance, and extends the lifespan of athletic assets. As high school athletics grow in complexity, participation, and community visibility, this dedicated role will strategically manage facilities, oversee performance support, and align athletic operations with the school's educational mission. This role supports athletic success while prioritizing physical development, health, character, and academic balance.

Education and Experience Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Experience working in high school athletics is preferred. Must have experience with, or be familiar with, the mission of Catholic, Jesuit education.

Essential Functions
Facilities Management and Oversight

Develop strategy and an operational plan to generate revenue for the athletic department, including rentals for outside vendors and events including events for alumni and members of the Fairfield County athletic community

Manage space usage of the Barron Center using school-wide tools

Develop youth training program to help market the school and athletic department to prospective student athletes in the area

Athlete Performance Education

Educate athletes on strength training fundamentals; recovery, sleep, and hydration; nutrition basics (age-appropriate and school-approved); and mental toughness and resilience

Promote lifelong fitness habits and character development

Reach out to the community and bring in speakers to aid in health science career paths

Strength & Conditioning Program Design

Develop age-appropriate, sport-specific strength and conditioning programs

Ensure programs follow long-term athlete development (LTAD) principles

Periodize training around competitive seasons

Collaborate with coaches to optimize performance without over-training

Equipment Maintenance & Safety

Regularly inspect weight room, Barron Center, and training areas

Establish proper cleaning protocols and equipment upkeep

Work directly with plant operations and contractors to assure quality maintenance of facility

Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and replacements with department budget

Coach Education & Collaboration

Lead strength and conditioning workshops for coaches

Design sport-specific in-season and off-season training plans

Communicate regularly with athletic staff to align performance goals with team objectives

Performs such other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required by supervisor and as departmental/Fairfield Prep needs indicate. Attend and actively participate in school-sponsored trips, retreats, service trips, extracurricular activities, athletic events, and community events held during and after school hours at the school or off-site locations as needed.

This is a full year 12-month position, based at Fairfield College Preparatory School’s Fairfield, CT campus and is not eligible for immigration assistance.
