Position Title: Part Time Music and Audio Recording & Production - Technical Assistant

Position Category: Part Time Staff

Position Status: FLSA Non‑Exempt

Advertised Salary: $22.52 - $24.76 per hour (based on education level)

Department: Music

Working Hours: 4‑hour shifts, primarily between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm on business days.

General Description: The Technical Assistant supports both the Music department and the Audio Recording and Production department by performing technical duties related to music and audio production.

Typical Work Activities: Inventory and setup for classes or events; repair and maintenance of equipment; research replacement parts and obtain quotes and prices; solder cables if needed.

Essential Functions:

Operate computers and related technology.

Communicate verbally and in writing with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and senior administrators.

Physically perform the tasks required by the position.

Required Qualifications:

Some background or experience in music/ audio production.

Familiarity with digital and analog sound equipment setup operations and AVID ProTools software.

Familiarity with guitar, keyboard, and drum instruments and knowledge of restringing/tuning.

Desirable Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Music, Audio Production, or a related field.

Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.

License(s) / Certifications: None required.
