Purpose Statement
The job of Media Technician is to maintain the Library/Media Center, perform managerial and technical duties such as maintaining inventories and distributing/collecting technology materials, and providing support to classroom teachers and ensuring compliance with Arizona HB 2439.

Responsibilities

Encourage staff and students to access library resources.

Collaborate with teachers and provide research materials for use in classroom and/or class assignments.

Coordinate class projects and presentations to ensure the availability of library facilities.

Distribute and collect various library books and media equipment when requested.

Prepare materials as needed for instruction to support the overall school curricula.

Instruct students on the proper use of the library resources (classification system, online library search catalog, care of materials, etc.).

Keep accurate inventory of library books, equipment, and materials and document losses.

Process notices of missing or damaged books to secure reimbursement for losses.

Monitor students in the library to ensure safety and welfare.

Process new library books and organize using the Dewey Decimal System.

Perform routine preventive maintenance of campus-wide media and in-library technology equipment.

Assist staff and ensure technology is up to date; troubleshoot and submit tickets to Help Desk as needed.

Prepare written documentation and reports (overdue notices, class use, book check, etc.).

Process orders for library books, periodicals, videos, films, etc. to maintain library/video collection controls.

Repair books and materials to ensure availability.

Maintain library database (e.g., Follett Destiny) to ensure accuracy in the online catalog.

Other Functions

Assist other personnel in supporting their work activities.

Process textbooks and related activities to ensure timely and accurate distribution.

Support school with other duties as assigned by administration.

Experience, Education, and Certifications

Experience: Job-related experience with increasing responsibilities desired.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Certifications/Clearances: Valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed.

Compensation Details

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Pay Schedule: Hourly - Grade 107

Work Calendar: Support 10 Month / 10.5 Months
