Job Description
The Department of Drama within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part‑Time Instructor to teach DRA 135 Jazz 1, a two credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026. The role requires an introductory jazz dance course for Musical Theater majors, focusing on the progressive studio study of the technique and theory of jazz theatrical dance.

Qualifications

5+ years teaching jazz at the college or professional level.

Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Teaching class twice per week for 80 minutes.

Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.

Preparing lectures, projects, or other student assignments.

Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.

Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.

Meeting all designated class periods.

Rescheduling class or obtaining a substitute in case of illness or emergency.

Notifying the department chair of any absence and the plan to cover the class.

Submitting completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.

Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.

Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.

Employment Information

Location: Campus (requires regular in‑person presence).

Pay Range: $1,483.20 – $1,751 per credit hour. Salary based on education, experience, and relevant skills; results in an 8.5‑month salary unless otherwise specified.

FLSA Status: Exempt.

Hours: Fall Semester 2026 – 08/25/2026 to 12/08/2026; 1:30‑2:50 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays; office hours required.
