String Bass Instructor (Part-Time)
At Duke University, you will play a vital role in shaping the musical development of students from elementary through high school in a dynamic pre-collegiate program administered by the Department of Music. You will join a collaborative community of educators dedicated to excellence in music education and student growth.

What You’ll Do

Provide one‑on‑one and small group instruction to students ranging from beginner to advanced levels.

Select and teach appropriate scales, etudes, and repertoire tailored to each student's development.

Coach chamber ensembles and support collaborative performance experiences.

Prepare students for solo recitals, concerts, and ensemble performances.

Partner with fellow String School instructors, parents, volunteers, and program leadership to support student success.

Participate in monthly teacher meetings and contribute to program planning and improvement.

What You’ll Bring

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Bass Performance, or Music Education.

Demonstrated experience teaching string bass to elementary, middle, and/or high school students.

Experience with both Suzuki and traditional pedagogical methods.

Anticipated hourly rate is $45+/hr.
