Summary
Assist in surface preparation, mixing of paint, application of coating, striping and cleaning.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare surfaces for coating according to paint manufacturers' specifications
Paint surfaces using approved methods
Striping tanks
Mix paints as directed
Ensure proper storage of equipment
Dispose of empty paint and solvent cans according to safety standards
Properly store and take appropriate precautions for paint and solvents as directed by supervisor
Assist sprayers in pulling lines
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Attributes
Knowledgeable in checking wet film mil (WFT) thickness being applied
Ability to follow instructions and provide consistent work
Education and Experience
Formal or informal on the job training
2+ years of experience in the application of coatings in the marine industry
OSHA 10 Maritime Standards (Company may provide)
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead
Ability to climb stairs and ladders
May be required to wear a respirator
Some travel may be required
