Position Summary :
The Media and Broadcasting Coordinator oversees the promotion and digital coverage of Unionville High School’s student life through multimedia content and social media engagement. The role supports a team of student content creators, facilitates digital storytelling of school-sponsored events, and manages official UHS social media accounts to reflect the values of the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District and its Portrait of a Graduate framework.
This position blends traditional video production responsibilities with a modern focus on social media management and student-led content creation. The coordinator fosters student skills in broadcasting, digital media, and content strategy while ensuring all public-facing content aligns with district policy and branding guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Social Media Management
Manage the Longhorn Life Instagram account and the Unionville High School Facebook page, ensuring consistent and mission-aligned messaging.
Develop and maintain a recognizable brand voice and visual identity aligned with UCFSD’s Portrait of a Graduate.
Adhere to the District’s Social Media Policy (#815.1) and ensure student compliance when contributing content.
Student Content Creator Program
Manage a student content creator program, empowering students to act as the primary source of content for official school social media platforms.
Host monthly planning meetings (location TBD) to build a collaborative content calendar for school-sponsored events.
Provide training, mentorship, and editorial oversight on content creation and digital storytelling best practices.
Develop and distribute parent/guardian permission forms to secure consent for publishing student-created content and identifying student contributors.
Event Coverage & Promotion
Promote school-sponsored events (e.g., pep rallies, club fairs, prom, playoff runs) through:
Promote upcoming events and post reminders about important events and changes in schedules or normal operations of the school.
A Monthly Round-Up on Instagram
Weekly stories on Instagram and Facebook (minimum of 2)
Cover school events not assigned to student creators, as availability permits.
Record and share major educational, school-sponsored events, such as New Student Orientation Night and Course Selection Night.
Clarify that coverage does not include PTO, booster, or non-school-sponsored events, except by special approval.
Technical Broadcast Oversight
Train and supervise students in equipment handling, event setup, troubleshooting, and content production.
Direct and produce content that may include multi-camera inputs, graphics, and live audio.
Oversee equipment storage, pre-event setup, post-event breakdown, and safety protocols.
Recruit and support new student members for the media team. Hold regular team meetings and provide ongoing coaching.
Additional Duties
Collaborate with school leadership and staff on creative content initiatives as needed.
Assist in shaping a positive, engaging digital presence that reflects the vibrant life of UHS students and programs.
