Musco's Videoboards Team has an opening for an AV Commissioning Technician. The Commissioning Technician is responsible for verifying, configuring, and optimizing complex audio‑visual and display systems. This role ensures that all audio, video, control, networking, and LED technologies are correctly integrated, programmed, tested, and fully operational before project completion. The technician serves as the on‑site technical authority, resolving performance issues and providing end‑user training on system operation and basic troubleshooting. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast, Production, Audio/Visual Systems, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional development certifications (such as Dante Level 2 or AVIXA‑recognized credentials) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
3-5 years of experience in a relevant field
Technical Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for identifying and resolving complex AV system issues.
Troubleshooting Under Pressure: Ability to work efficiently and effectively in time‑sensitive or high‑demand environments.
Customer Communication: Clear, professional communication skills with the ability to deliver structured end‑user training.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in documentation, testing records, and system validation reporting.
Independent Work Capability: Able to operate autonomously in remote or field‑based environments with minimal supervision.
Professionalism: Consistently represents the company positively in customer‑facing and contractor‑facing settings.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in dynamic job‑site conditions and adjusting to evolving project requirements.
Ability to travel to project sites 75% of the time
Roles and Responsibilities
Commission, configure, and validate complex AV systems including audio, video, control, scoring, networking, and LED display technologies.
Verify and troubleshoot complete system signal flow—analog, digital, and IP‑based—ensuring proper routing, synchronization, gain structure, and device communication.
Configure and optimize digital audio mixing consoles, DSP platforms, and audio‑over‑IP networks including Dante routing, clocking, and diagnostics.
Set up, coordinate, and troubleshoot RF microphone systems and resolve interference and performance issues.
Configure and commission LED display systems, including processor setup (e.g., NovaStar), screen mapping, calibration, and performance validation.
Install, configure, and validate scoring and control platforms, ensuring proper integration with audio and video systems.
Configure AV‑related IP networks, assign static addresses, upload firmware, and troubleshoot connectivity between system devices.
Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, and signal flow documentation to verify system installation and integration accuracy.
Perform comprehensive system testing, diagnostics, quality assurance checks, document commissioning results, and complete project closeout requirements.
Deliver structured end‑user training and represent professional communication with customers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
