What You Will Be Doing:
An employee in this position performs technical duties associated with professional sound, light and video equipment for The Halle Cultural Arts Center events. Work involves providing sound, light and video for Halle events such as concerts, plays, movies, and meetings and for Hallerental events such as birthday parties, performances and weddings. Work may require working weekdays, weeknights and/or weekend shifts, some being multiple days in a row for play performances and rehearsals. Work may be indoor or outdoor events.
This position reports to the Cultural Arts Center Manager.
This position does not supervise.
A Sample of the Essentials:
Operates the theatre sound and lighting systems and portable outdoor sound and lighting system used at Halle events, Hallerental events, remote Town events and summer outdoor music & movie series.
Coordinates with show directors to curate sound and light queues.
Assists in proper organization of equipment and maintaining proper supplies.
Assists in planning for system upgrade and enhancements; reviewing technical riders for touring artists and coordination with production manager.
Performs minor repairs to equipment as needed.
Performs related duties as required.
What You'll Need:
Graduation from high school or GED and two to four years of experience in operating sound and light boards; or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
Preferred candidates will have previous technical theatre experience.
With:
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of technical theatre.
Knowledge of Windows PC w/Office applications.
Working knowledge of techniques, methods and procedures of theater, dance and music productions and presentations including stage, set, sound and light design and implementation, computerized lighting systems, sound system mixers, equalizers, compressors, power amplifiers and other professional sound equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot sound and lighting system malfunctions.
Ability to comprehend, make decisions and respond to a variety of situations in an expedient manner.
