Visit California is seeking a student assistant for the Promotional Products who will be responsible for providing support to the Promotions contractor for promotional collateral needs for Visit California’s domestic and international markets.
The student assistant should have excellent organization and written communications skills, be detail oriented, and have a passion for producing high quality materials that provide value to the industry. The student assistant must have the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and provide administrative support to various departments as needed.
Employment Conditions

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check, educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript) or DMV clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.
UEI does not allow students to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one account per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.

Prerequisites & Eligibility

Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.
Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting.
Majors/Fields of Study: Marketing, Communications, Hospitality and Tourism Management, or any related field.
Work Schedule

Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM – 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
Compensation

$16.90-$18.00 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications

Must complete each term with minimum unit requirements for Undergraduate and Graduate student classifications. Proof will be collected at the end of each Spring and Fall term.
Proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro) and all Microsoft Office products.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to manage multiple demands of varying completely and meet multiple deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Proven ability to take direction (via in-person or creative briefs) and complete assignments on-time, as well as an initiative to follow through and complete assignments independently.
Strong organizational skills.
Communicate and work well with others in a professional office environment.
Experience using Macintosh and PC operating systems.
Must be able to lift 20-40lb boxes.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous office administration experience is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities

Tracks inventory of promotional and event collateral and communicates with Promotions Contractor when reorders are necessary.
Assists Promotions Contractor with sourcing and production of collateral and maintaining the promotions storefront, ensuring new products are added correctly, and review and fill incoming order requests.
Organize and maintain the promotions room at headquarters.
Responsible for creatively packaging gifts for internal requests, VIP events and high-level gifting to meet Visit California brand standards.
Receives and provides quality control of collateral being received at Visit California – ensuring proper logos and URLs are produced correctly and meets brand standards.
Responsible for coordinating couriers for various services such as dry cleaning and deliveries offsite, and shipping domestically and internationally via FedEx and UPS, ensuring all appropriate customs documentation is included in required shipments.
Maintain the promotional products email inbox.
Assist with special projects and tasks assigned by the Creative Development Manager and Promotions contractor.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
