Office of Community & Government Relations - Communications Assistant

Hourly Rate: $11.00

Responsibilities
The student in this position will assist the Office of Community and Government Relations in strengthening its partnership with the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation and Easley Center by:

Marketing and conducting public relations to improve Parks and Recreation’s outreach for Edgehill community programs.

Planning and executing tailored communications vehicles, including social media, to communicate with constituents and partners in the Edgehill/Rose Park area for Metro Parks.

Meeting with Metro Parks and Easley Center/Rose Park staff to develop relationships with Belmont's Edgehill neighborhood partners.

Attending neighborhood meetings as needed.

Facilitating or working with Edgehill youth to produce communications that promote programs at Easley Center/Rose Park.

Qualifications

Excellent grammar and spelling & punctuation skills.

Knowledge of regulations governing publication of written material.

Organizational and time‑management skills.

Proficiency with computer software used to write and edit materials.

Proofreading and editing abilities.

Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to establish relationships with partners.

Experience using social media for outreach.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Commitment to confidentiality.

Availability to travel off‑campus using personal transportation.

Education
Must be enrolled as a current student at Belmont University.

Experience
Paid or volunteer experience in print or electronic newspapers, blogs, YouTube, social media for high school, college, church, non‑profit, or similar organizations.
