Overview

Our water and watershed-positive educational programs engage Californians in community and citizen science, art, and green infrastructure education. Wholly H2O hosts community events and develops educational programs to engage Californians in citizen science, art exhibitions, and green infrastructure. We are creating virtual and in-person natural and cultural history creek tours in the San Francisco East Bay. The work involves deep research into the creek's history, flora, fauna, geology, historical occupation, city planning, and race relations, with emphasis on including BIPOC histories embedded in the watersheds we tour. This work requires living in the Bay Area.

Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth research into the creek's history, community groups and activities, scientific studies, primary species, restoration activities, social and environmental justice, and daylighted vs. piped sections.
Write text and gather existing images for the website and for the printable creek guide.
Walk or bike along creeks to take photographs and create online maps with points of interest for people who cannot access the watersheds.
Support live-streaming creek walks with naturalist events in various watersheds.
Qualifications

Capable researchers with initiative and ability to meet a schedule.
Good team communicators with excellent writing skills.
Organized and able to work independently.
Reside in the SF Bay Area.
Enjoy creek ecology; this is a plus.
