Theatre Program Technical Director

The SMHS Technical Director (TD) assists the Director with technical operations of the theatre, including lighting, sound, set construction, and coordination of necessary maintenance and inventory for equipment and programming related to SMHS Theatre; non exempt position.
Knowledge and experience in technical operations of a theatre program.
Weekly class visits to Musical Theatre and Applied Theatre classes and workshops to align with the Technical Theatre Arts Standards (NC Standard Course of Study: Beginning - Accomplished)
Supervises and safeguards the technical assets of the theatre, including the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of stage facilities.
Determines the necessary technical supports, such as lighting, sound, staging, and special needs, necessary for events and performances of SMHS Theatre program.
Mentors and supervises students in generating original light and sound design for each SMHS production.
Advises production managers, lighting and sound designers, on the technical specifications, costs and usage of technical equipment required for the individual show, and supervises the implementations of approved technical designs.
Assists with set and stage construction.
Assists in recruiting, training and assignment of volunteer or paid technical staff for individual shows.
Monitors the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; communicates with director to arrange for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints.
Attends regular production meetings with director and design staff.
Attends technical and dress rehearsals and supervises each performance.
Other duties as assigned by superintendent or designee.
