Public Relations Coordinator - Talent/Grand Marshals (Temporary Part-Time)

About the Position Direct reporting to the Chief Communications Officer and Head of Public Relations—the PR Coordinator – Talent / Grand Marshals will join the department seasonally, ahead of and during the TCS New York City Marathon, from August through early November. In this role, during the lead‐up an average of 30 hours a week with race‐week hours increasing with potential overtime, the PR Coordinator – Talent / Grand Marshals will be responsible for supporting the logistics for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon Grand Marshals, which will include a celebrity Grand Marshal and multiple honorary Grand Marshals in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the five‐borough New York City Marathon. Support will focus on the lead‐up to marathon day, race week—including coordinating travel, hospitality, media appearances, all race‐week events and activities—and the race‐day logistics of their VIP experience. Job Responsibilities Pre-Race Day – responsibilities include: Support PR team in planning and organizing logistics for the Grand Marshal's race‐week and race‐day events and activities, including press interviews and event appearances. Work with NYRR PR team and external PR agency to coordinate and schedule pre‐race Grand Marshal interviews. Coordinating travel to/from New York City for Celebrity/Honorary Grand Marshals. Participate in internal meetings with Grand Marshal working group, PR team, event leads, PR agency team members, etc. Escort/staff Celebrity/Honorary Grand Marshals for any appearances/interviews. Support other PR‐related projects as needed. Race-Day – responsibilities include: Coordinate/staff Celebrity/Honorary Grand Marshals for full day of activities at the Start and Finish lines, and VIP Hospitality. Job Requirements 3-5 years of experience in public relations, production, event operations, and/or talent management required. Experience working with celebrities / talent / principals is required. Experience in events is required; large‐scale events preferred. Education & Certifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in English, public relations, communications, journalism, sports management, or related field preferred. Skills and Attributes Excellent critical thinking skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. A collaborator with strong project management skills. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong ability to multitask, meet and perform under tight deadlines, think clearly under pressure, and exercise good judgment. Other Requirements Ability to work weekends and nights as required. Passion for New York Road Runners' mission is a plus.
