Job Description

The Director is responsible for directing all administrative, programming, technical operations, fundraising activities and compliance for WUOT 91.9 FM. The role oversees budget, personnel, strategic planning, FCC regulations, and NPR requirements, and represents WUOT to internal and external audiences, including the station's community advisory board. The Director also advises staff of WUTK, the University of Tennessee’s college radio station, on FCC compliance and technical operations, and collaborates with CCI’s other media properties as part of the Media Center ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure strategic focus for the organization and foster a collaborative nature of WUOT.
  • Identify and implement initiatives that advance WUOT’s goals and mission.
  • Develop pathways for serving, growing, and diversifying WUOT audiences in partnership with staff and senior leadership.
  • Establish strategic partnerships that enhance reach, revenue, capacity, and impact.
  • Adopt an entrepreneurial approach to identify key opportunities for ongoing service, success, and relevance.
  • Deploy resources ethically, efficiently, and responsibly.
  • Provide technical and regulatory guidance to WUTK.
  • Develop and implement plans and budgets to achieve revenue goals and meet annual financial targets.
  • Maintain the long‑term financial health of WUOT.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives, cultivating and stewarding donors, attending functions, and soliciting major gifts.
