Cyber Public Affairs Officer

A strategic communications advisor is sought to support a fast-paced operational environment. This role involves assisting senior leaders in communicating cyber operations, mission objectives, and emerging threats to internal and external stakeholders. The position requires experience in military public affairs, operational planning, crisis communications, information environment analysis, and strategic messaging in support of cyber operations.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and integrate public affairs strategies and communication plans into military and cyber operations.
Provide strategic communications support to senior leadership to synchronize command messaging.
Monitor, analyze, and assess media coverage, current events, and the information environment to identify risks and opportunities.
Develop and coordinate Public Affairs Guidance (PAG), communication plans, media responses, and leadership messaging.
Advise senior leaders on public, media, and stakeholder implications of operations.
Identify and develop strategies to counter misinformation and disinformation campaigns.
Conduct media and information environment assessments to support decision-making.
Coordinate with planners and intelligence personnel to ensure messaging accuracy and consistency.
Support the planning and execution of conferences, working groups, and senior leader engagements.
Prepare and deliver briefings and assessments to senior personnel.
Required Qualifications

Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOD Top Secret SCI
Education & Experience:

Master's degree with 2+ years of experience.
Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience.
Associate's degree with 6+ years of experience.
8+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Skills & Qualifications:

Ability to obtain/maintain a DOD Top Secret SCI Clearance
Completion of Defense Information School (DINFOS) or an equivalent military public affairs qualification course.
Experience supporting a Joint Command, Combatant Command, Service Cyber Component, or military operations center.
Experience developing strategic communication plans, public affairs guidance, crisis communications products, and executive messaging.
Experience in crisis communications and creating Public Affairs Guidance (PAG), including talking points and press releases.
Proficiency in media and information analysis, including monitoring news and social media.
Experience developing responses to misinformation and disinformation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
Strong written, verbal, and briefing communication skills, with the ability to present to senior military leaders.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting cyber operations, information operations, or strategic communications within a government context.
Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) coursework or equivalent joint operational experience.
Experience briefing General Officers, Flag Officers, and other senior government officials.
Familiarity with the mission environments of organizations like DISA or U.S. Cyber Command.
Experience conducting media analysis and counter-disinformation initiatives.
