NBC News Digital team is looking for a short-term Breaking News Reporter to cover the weekend shift. Hours are Friday‑Tuesday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. ET.

Responsibilities

Actively monitor sources of breaking news and be prepared to jump on developments within minutes.

Report and write on a wide range of stories, including crime, politics, courts, weather and major national news.

Contribute to live blogs and rolling coverage during major breaking news events.

Pitch and pursue follow‑ups and enterprise angles that move stories forward.

Write SEO‑friendly headlines and descriptions.

Produce accurate, clean and fast copy, including headlines and photo/video captions.

Effectively communicate and collaborate with a team of reporters and editors.

Make full use of NBC News resources, including network newsgathering and multimedia.

Share reporting with network partners.

Qualifications
You must have 5 years of prior digital reporting experience.
