Director Of Public Affairs
The City of Chicago Treasurer's Office seeks a Director of Public Affairs to manage and direct the public affairs and media relations activities for the City of Chicago Treasurer's Office. Essential duties include coordinating and overseeing the department's public affairs and media relations activities, developing strategies to create and maintain a positive image of the department, directing public information programs to convey the department's mission, goals, and services to the general public, and serving as the department spokesperson to the news media.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a relevant field, and a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role. Knowledge of government communication practices and techniques, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle crisis communications effectively are also required.
Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm CDT on 07/13/2026. The starting salary is $114,000, commensurate with experience. The position is located at 121 N. LaSalle Street, 1st floor, and the work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. This position is Shakman-exempt.
