Technical Writer Team Lead

Leading a team of technical writers in a fully remote capacity, the Communications and Technical Writer Team Lead will manage the development of technical documentation, training materials, and communications to support a large-scale federal IT modernization program for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Key responsibilities

Lead and coordinate a team of technical writers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality documentation and manage workload distribution
Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to create clear, user-focused training materials and technical documentation
Oversee project scope and communication strategies, ensuring all documentation meets quality standards and compliance requirements

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline, with 6+ years of relevant experience
Demonstrated leadership experience in managing technical writing teams and multiple documentation projects
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate complex information for diverse audiences
Experience with documentation tools such as Confluence, Jira, and Microsoft Office
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
