Role Description
The Product Line Specialist for Submarine fiber executes a product line strategy that supports the achievement of desired product line sales and profitability. The role includes facilitating collaborative engagement with PLM, RD&E, Technology, MTD, Manufacturing, and Sales teams to define and deliver new products to market. It also involves extensive interactions with senior leadership to develop, communicate, and execute short‑ and long‑term product line plans.
Day to Day Responsibilities
Assist in developing responses to customer RFQs
Help develop and deliver new Submarine fiber product line plans, including the marketing position statement and value proposition.
Coordinate the commercial and standards strategy for the product line to develop and grow sales.
Find the optimal solution (balancing the needs of Corning and the customer) to all product line issues including performance attributes, quality, delivery, price/value, market share, and customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with RD&E & MTD to understand downstream market technology requirements and assess competitive threats and implications.
Create and manage short and long‑term forecasts and coordinate the Product Team to ensure adequate capability, capacity, and on‑time delivery.
Manage the product line through the stages of innovation (from product concept through commercialization) and life‑cycle management.
Work with cross‑functional teams to identify opportunities to reduce complexity and costs and continuously improve the overall sales and operations process.
Address all types of day‑to‑day product definition, product placement, promotion, and price/value questions and requests raised by both internal and external customers.

Execute a product line strategy that maintains industry leadership and supports the achievement of product line sales growth and profitability.
Effectively manage projects and individual tasks.

Understand the financial and operational levers of the product line and consider them when making product‑related decisions.
Be process and detail oriented and build strong working relationships with decision makers and SMEs in RD&E, manufacturing, and marketing.
Function/Technical
Anticipate changes in customer products and technology and use this information to position Corning products accordingly.
Know the market’s view of Corning’s products and services, continuously building knowledge of current and emerging customer trends and state‑of‑the‑art optical transmission technologies.
Data Gathering and Analytical Skills
Understand critical issues and implications of the product line strategy and obtain relevant facts and data to support well‑informed strategy development and business decisions.
Recognize important patterns, trends, and themes in data and market/customer information.
Leadership
Communicate with honesty, clarity, directness, and awareness of different cultures.
Communicate business direction and proactively engage the product team to inspire commitment.
Experiences / Education – Required
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, or Engineering concentrations preferred.
Analytical background and strong potential for technical learning.
Minimum of 2 years of work experience in technology or engineering in a technically based and customer‑focused environment.
Demonstrated track record of managing projects, priorities, and meeting objectives and deadlines.
Experiences / Education – Desired
Additional or specific training in Optical Communications or Photonics is desired.
MBA or equivalent demonstrated experience in business is a plus.
International business work experience or participation in multicultural and/or multi‑geographic projects.

Compensation
The range for this position is $100,646.00–$138,388.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
