Location:

Company Background:

Virtuix Inc. (NASDAQ: VTIX) is a leading manufacturer of full-body virtual reality systems for consumer, enterprise, and defense markets. The company's premier portfolio of "Omni" omni-directional treadmills enables players to walk and run in 360 degrees inside video games and other virtual reality applications. With a commitment to innovation, Virtuix continues to push the boundaries of XR and AI, delivering immersive experiences to users worldwide.

The Virtuix team is looking for a full-time VR Developer at our Austin, TX headquarters to develop and maintain training and simulation applications for enterprise and defense customers. Candidates should be comfortable building serious training content for enterprise and defense customers, including practical, mission-oriented simulation experiences.

In this role, you will own training and simulation modules from concept through delivery, including scenario design, level creation, gameplay logic, interaction design, testing, iteration, and final polish. Most projects will be focused in scope, but they will move quickly and require strong ownership, practical design judgment, and the ability to deliver complete, usable training modules.

Our applications are built using game engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity, so this role requires strong experience developing interactive 3D content, gameplay systems, and VR interactions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building practical VR experiences, can work independently, and wants to deliver complete training simulations for enterprise and defense customers.

Responsibilities

Translate customer requirements into complete VR training modules that can be delivered, tested, and iterated quickly

Design and implement interactive training scenarios, including training objectives, user flow, environment setup, gameplay logic, scoring, completion criteria, and after-action feedback

Build levels from start to finish, including blockout, layout, set dressing, lighting, and final polish

Implement gameplay logic, interaction systems, and training functionality using Unreal Engine/Blueprint, Unity/C#, or similar game development tools

Frequently test builds to ensure quality, usability, and reliability

Work in a fast-paced, small-team environment where one developer may own a complete module from start to finish

Requirements

Must be eligible to work on U.S. defense-related projects. Depending on customer requirements, U.S. Person status or security clearance eligibility may be required.

Portfolio of work required for consideration

2+ years of experience developing interactive 3D applications, games, simulations, or VR experiences using Unreal Engine, Unity, or a similar game engine

Bachelor’s degree in game design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Strong gameplay implementation skills using Blueprint scripting, C#, C++, visual scripting, or similar tools

Experience with level design, gameplay implementation, interaction design, and rapid prototyping

Ability to own small-to-medium projects from concept through completion

Comfortable developing serious training applications for enterprise and defense customers

Strong desire to work in-office in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Able to adapt quickly to changing requirements and approaching deadlines

Thrives in a startup with a do-it-all, get-it-done culture

Nice to have:

Experience developing in both Unreal Engine and Unity

Experience making networked or multiplayer applications

Experience with 3D modeling, animation, or content creation tools

Our ideal candidate has all the above skills, but we understand that strong candidates may not check every box. If you are highly motivated and meet most of the requirements, please apply anyway! We will consider any enthusiastic candidate interested in joining our team.
