Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, is seeking an Assistant Director of Communications for Digital Media to join its communications team, which is part of the School’s Advancement Office. The position is full-time, year-round, in-office, reporting to the director of communications, and is available beginning in July 2026.Guided by its founding principles of honor, academic distinction, spiritual growth, and community, Episcopal High School is a 100% boarding school, serving 440+ students in grades 9-12. Episcopal’s communications team focuses on highlighting and celebrating the distinctive aspects of the School and the achievements of its students, faculty, staff, and alumni. By fostering strong relationships and school pride, the communications team plays an integral role in engaging all members of the community to actively support the School’s mission and strategic priorities.Individuals with demonstrated skill in videography, photography, writing, graphics design, and brand management are encouraged to apply. Exceptional editing and writing skills, for both print and web, are essential, as are strong organization and communication skills, both written and oral. Attention to detail is vital, as is the ability to meet deadlines and manage projects efficiently. The successful candidate will be motivated, energetic, creative, and excited about joining, and engaging with, a vibrant school community.This role collaborates not only with the Communications and Advancement teams but also other offices across campus including Admissions, the Office of Community & Equity, Athletics, the Arts, the Washington Program, and the McCain-Ravenel Center for Intellectual and Moral Courage. The creation of compelling and fresh content through videography, photography, and the written word is a high priority for the team, therefore attendance during some evening and weekend events is a requirement.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Creating engaging promotional videosManaging the School’s photography database and Flickr accountServing as lead campus photographer for daily and event coverage, and coordinating with student, faculty, or freelance photographersManaging the School’s social media presence across platforms and creating the strategic vision for how Episcopal leverages its social media in support of strategic initiativesManaging design and publication of printed programs for school events and other branded print/design projectsSupporting the communications team with writing and editing print and web materials, such as campus news stories, alumni magazines and notices, annual reports, and admissions collateralOverseeing the schedule for the all-School event streaming platformAssisting with the production of campus signage, displays, stationery, and photo boardsSupporting photography updates to the School’s website and some content management work;Working independently and within a team on special and ongoing projects as necessary.General Skill & Experience Requirements:A bachelor’s degree with 1-4 years of professional experience, preferably in non-profit/educational fundraising, marketing, graphic design, or administrative work, and a familiarity with independent schoolsTrue appreciation for the mission and values of Episcopal High SchoolA knack for building and maintaining relationships and the ability to communicate professionally and confidentially via phone, email, and in personStrong organizational and project management skillsExcellent communication skills including writing and editing with attention to detail and formattingHigh levels of initiative, with proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently and to manage time effectivelyGood judgment, respect for confidentiality, and willingness to ask for guidance and support when neededA demonstrated interest in, and experience with, photographyAbility to master relevant necessary technological tools and platforms, including but not limited to: Adobe Suite including InDesign, Acrobat DC, Photoshop, Premiere Pro; Blackbaud; Google Suite; Canva; Adobe Spark or other editing softwareStrong leadership, collaborative, and interpersonal skills, with desire to support colleagues and constituents, solve problems creatively, work on a close-knit teamWillingness to work occasional evenings and weekendAdditional Application Instructions:In addition to submitting a cover letter and resume, applicants should also submit samples of applicable work either through the Paycom application portal or by emailing samples directly to Megan Friend, Administrative Assistant to Advancement, mfriend@episcopalhighschool.org.
