Lead Mechanic
Responsible for performing journey-level repairs on gas and diesel engines and related systems for vehicles and serves as lead worker assigning and monitoring the work of other mechanics.
Duties include activities such as performing preventative maintenance on buses and other District vehicles; conducting vehicle emissions tests; diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, braking, and air conditioning problems with vehicles including those more than 10,000 lbs. G.V.W; Provides oversight for mechanics operations and staff including opening and closing the shop; maintaining shop documentation; prioritizing and assigning work, training, and monitoring the work of others; Performs inventory control including purchasing of automotive parts and related documentation.
Job Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, vocational training in an approved automotive program, and two years experience repairing gas and diesel engines and related systems for vehicles less than and more than 10,000 lbs. G.V.W. are required; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above: AZ Commercial Driver's License with P&S endorsement AZ School Bus Driver's Certificate Valid IVP Level One AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card is required CPR Certificate with AED First Aid Certificate AZ Environmental Quality Emissions Inspector License with fleet endorsement Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (CFC-12) Freon License Knowledge of: Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, rules, regulations, codes, and statutes.
Employment Information: 26/27 school year; 40 hours per week; 260 days per school year Salary: Band B23 - $22.46/hr entry level
