A Day in the Life
Medtronic, the District Sales Manager, Cardiac Surgery manages the achievement of unit and revenue goals for assigned therapy products in an assigned district. To achieve these goals the DM will motivate and inspire a team of Sales Representatives and engage directly with key customers. The DM also assists the district in achieving overall assigned therapy marketing objectives and interacts with senior leadership in sales and marketing. The DM will be responsible for forecasting and regularly reporting on progress on the district toward sales revenue goals.

Along with strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills and proven medical device sales experience, the DM will also need to have significant experience utilizing electronic technology and business software.
The Cardiac Surgery Operating Unit seeks candidates who will meet our customer expectations by striving without reserve for the greatest possible reliability and quality in our products, processes and systems by being accountable, having a voice, and taking action. Perform all duties in compliance with the Quality System.
This is a field based role.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies to achieve short and long‑term business objectives
Utilize field visits, individual or group meetings, and telephone contacts to engage customers
Train and develop employees in sales skills, product knowledge, teamwork, time and territory management, competitive knowledge, and career goal pursuits
Coordinate sales efforts
Communicate corporate, divisional, regional, and/or district mission, goals, and activities
Direct and motivate personnel to achieve unit and revenue goals
Provide ongoing feedback/coaching and regularly schedule performance reviews
Implement corrective actions when necessary
Assist employees with individual development plans (IDPs)
Apply customer‑focused quality concepts
Provide overall management of district assets
Develop and manage budgets and forecasts
Ensure efficient and effective use of inventory and expenses
Negotiate and resolve price and contract issues with reps, accounts, regional management, and home office personnel
Coordinate efforts with sales reps and managers of other product lines to diversify and maximize overall Medtronic teamwork results
Develop ethical, long‑term customer relationships and represent Medtronic management to customers
Recruit and interview candidates to maintain a strong personnel "bench," hire top candidates for open positions, and meet workplace diversity goals
Provide feedback of marketing intelligence to sales and marketing management
Qualifications
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of medical sales experience;
Advanced Degree and 5 years of medical sales and leadership experience
Nice to Have: Preferences
Successful medical sales record, preferably with Cardiac Surgery products
Experience with sales and personnel management functions
Knowledge of Medtronic Cardiac Surgery assigned product/therapy customer base
Additional experience in marketing, training, technical services or related areas
Additional Job Requirements
Employee is regularly required to be independently mobile
Employee must interact with a computer for extended periods and communicate with peers and co‑workers
Must be able to lift 20 pounds
Must be able to hear, see and speak fluently
Must be able to travel extensively by car and plane
Must be able to sit, stand 8 hours per day
Must be able to wear a lead apron for long periods of time (2‑3 hrs on average)
Must be able to operate a moving vehicle
Must be able to work in OR and/or Hospital Labs with radiation exposure
Must be able to conduct company business outside of the typical Monday‑Friday 8:00‑5:00 schedule
Must have a valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance policy. Driving record will be reviewed as part of the application process.
Must be able to drive or fly approximately 70% of the time within the assigned territory, with 50‑70% of that time involving overnight travel

Salary ranges for U.S. (excluding PR) locations (USD): 135,000.
This position is eligible for an annual long‑term incentive plan and a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP) for exceeding goals.
