Game-Help Announcer

Classification: Athletics Department Reports To: Game Manager Position Goal: To increase fan interest and enjoyment by announcing pertinent game information, introducing athletes, coaches, and officials, as well as making other needed public address announcements.

Essential Functions: Other duties may be assigned. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:

  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to game time.
  • Follow the directions of the official and all appropriate PIAA and BCIAA League rules.
  • Make appropriate pre-game announcements regarding PIAA, BCIAA League, and District Policies.
  • Make appropriate pre-game introductions of players, coaches, and officials.
  • Make timely and accurate announcements regarding game information (scores, statistics, fouls, penalties, etc.).
  • Make timely and accurate announcements regarding substitutions and personnel.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

  • Ability to speak and communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to use various public address systems.
  • Understanding of the game for which one serves as announcer.
  • Demonstrated ability to read rehearsed and new material aloud with minimal mistakes.
  • Strong public speaking voice.
  • Public Address experience (preferred)

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

Physical Demands: Sitting for three hours

Sensory Abilities: Visual acuity to read text and observe games.

Temperament: Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people. Must be cooperative.

Mental Demands: Ability to interpret detailed written and verbal communication. Ability to function in a fast-paced high-pressure work setting. High degree of patience and tolerance

Environment: Inside the RSD high school and middle school buildings Outside on the RSD high school and middle school athletic fields
